The Virginia Tech Baja SAE team is currently finishing out our modifications to Skeeter in order to improve its reliability as as well as handling characteristics. At the same time, we are finishing up fabrications on the 2008 car and will shortly begin testing. We are planning to run both cars in upcoming competitions. We will be present in Tennessee (May 1-3, 2008) and Montreal (June 11-14.2008).

Winter Baja and update

We are currently planning to attend 2008 Winter Baja Competition at Michigan Tech in Mid-February. We will be only taking Skeeter to this competition and testing for the winter environment is underway. The 2008 car is also being built at the same time for the two other competitions coming up in May and June. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated to the team. Your contributions are invaluable to our project.

Welcome to the official website of Virginia Tech Baja SAE. Our team's mission is to design and construct a single-seat off-road vehicle to meet the rules set forth by SAE(external link). After thorough testing of a prototype vehicle, a production vehicle will be fabricated and subsequently entered for international SAE sanctioned competition. This year, Virginia Tech Baja SAE will be participating in the East and Midwest regional competitions.

If you would like to be considered for the 2008-2009 VT Baja SAE team, please fill out this application(external link) and turn it in to the Baja Bay in the Ware Lab (next to the power plant).

Weekly Meetings are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30AM in Hancock 209. Volunteers and potential future Baja SAE members are welcome. If you have further questions, please contact the Membership Chair(external link).
